THE LIGHT OF GOD
Beyond our power to explain or know,
There is a spark that kindles an inward glow
And turns it outward as a signal fire,
Beaming the farther as it reaches higher.
We need only crack the dark soul's lantern door
And the spark will leap to life at its very core,
Filling the vessel with a blaze of light
And sending a beacon deep into the night.
Lord God, I open my lantern, dark and still.
Kindle my soul with the quick spark of your will.
Let love be my fuel and your truth the flame
That shines out of me to glorify your name.
