Cold rainy morning
ANZAC DAY today has been
Solemn as ever...
Feeling deep fervour
To all the heroes of wars
Australians paying
tributes from dawn till sunset.
They reflect, "Lest we forget."

Gather
ANZAC's verve
Paying homage to
Serving humanity for peace.

Many years later
The blood of our heroes
Appeared like deep red capes
That drape the ground where they lay.
The seeds of their spirits grew
Like plants growing in the field
In due time, they bloom in thousands
Upon thousands, year by year.
The remnants of their own seeds
Come to gather on this sombre day
Feeling downcast at the plangent sound
Of the reveille's call to arms.
Reminding the presence of the fallen
Lying deep beneath their grave
On each white cross is etched
Their heroic ancestors' name engraved.
From eventide to dawning
These brave men endured the cold
In that strange land, hunger too was their enemy
At the expense of their dignity, much less their lives.
The young generation continues on
the legacy of honouring their lost beloved heroes.
So at the rising of the sun, they envision
The glorious apparition of these brave spirits:
The courageous fallen soldiers smiling down on them with deep pride.
