For what reasons are we beholden
To escape Life’s noisy tirade?
We hibernate in a secluded place
Where only You and Silence
Give glory to sunrise and sunset.
We are too strong not to fail —
Yet, here is a danger:
We fall piece by piece
Without a trace.
For whatever reason: we still wave to the seas
Not because it calls for hope,
Nor it gives us the courage to endure.
The only reason:
Under our skin, beneath the heartbeat,
There is a gem more precious than everything:
The Pearl of the Orient Seas we adore —
The reason why we exist
And live like a starfish walking on earth.
Wherever we are - and beyond time -
We pray with one voice:
“God bless the Philippines!”
