learning like the bamboo
I bow and bend and sway;
with torrents strong and lawless,
no gentle zephyr's kiss to play.
I'm ditching pride, uprooting
all learning borne of years
discarding what I thought defines me;
I gambled with my fears.
I shake off thorny outgrowths
I prune emotions rattling deep
I decimate all toxic logic
just holding on what's right to keep
Yet when, for what, they ask me
no answer I can give
my words are absent -- thoughts too, sooner
they fly away and from me leave.
but know this -- pliancy this life asks;
without woe gladly I submit
I'll bend and bounce where wind blows
until my time is writ.
