The Soliloquy of the Sun
By Rado Gatchalian
I look at the East
And bow down
To the moon and the stars,
The glittering lights
That strike my soul —
It vaporises my fullness
And it makes me whole.
But as I stretch my sight
And dare to look Him in the eye —
I become blind,
And never shall I see again the visible.
But as I hide for thousand years —
Slowly within me,
A humble monk of no dogmas,
I shine like sunlight,
Like petals in the ocean,
Quietly waiting for sunrise.
"Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn, look to the East.”
